Product Description:

The Big Bale Buddy keeps your hay clean and contained until your horses eat it. It catches all the high nutrition chaff and makes it available for your horses to eat. Why stand by and see your high quality (and expensive) hay used for bedding when there is an inexpensive, easy to use and safe alternative?

Special weave designed to allow water that gets inside the feeder to seep out while moisture hitting the outside of the Big Bale Buddy will be repelled, keeping your hay drier.

Removes the risk of leg and neck injuries that can be caused by metal and rigid feeders.

Quickly pays for itself in saved hay. The Big Bale Buddy ensures that almost all your hay gets eaten.

Saves you money every time you feed! Pays for itself in 6 to 12 uses and keeps on saving you money for years!

Feeding large bales without a feeder can waste up to 1/3 of the bale.

Lightweight, easy to use, easy to care for and affordable.

ONE YEAR FREE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY AGAINST TEARING AND MANUFACTURERS DEFECTS

A safe, affordable alternative to pen type feeders; ideal for feeding large round bales to horses, cattle, llamas. bison, deer and elk.

The Big Bale Buddy comes in 3 sizes: the Small fits Bales up to 4' 4" ,the Large fits bale up to 5' 2" and the Extra Large fits bales up to 6' in diameter.

Findings:

I am using this product for about a month now and so far, it has met all my expectations! It is super durable, it colapses the way it should and yes, the horses play with it, paw at it, drag it around the paddock, but the hay stays inside. I added a slowfeed net to the top which I really like. It prevents them from stuffing their mouths full of hay and slows down their pace so they eat little amounts at a time, for yes, about 20 hrs a day. To fit the big bale buddy over the roundbale is a little tricky at first, but the advice given on their website about the tent peg, definetely worth a try if you are like me, struggling to get this thing to fit over the roundbale without any help. Depending on how tight or loose the roundbale is, one is easier to do than others. I am very excited about these Big Bale Buddies, that I am proudly selling them on my website for our Alaska customers!

I just love the idea and found your photo of the net over the top. I think this will work great for not only my horses but for feeding the rounds to my alpacas as well. They make more of a mess than the horses do.

Hi,
I placed the Shires Small Mesh Haynet over the top. To secure it, I wove a poly rope, 2 inches intervals through the top and then secured the net, with every hole. It is quite the ordeal, but I only have to do it every two weeks. For me, that is worth it.

I'm thinking of adding a slow feed net to my buddy too. How did you secure yours to the buddy? What type of net did you use?
